         About Dr. Stephenson 

Dr. Stephenson brings to the field of coaching over twenty years’ experience as a business and organizational consultant, counselor and university professor. He has coached a diverse group of people, including professionals and middle/upper level managers on issues of career change, leadership, stress management, personal development and interpersonal relationships.

Dr. Stephenson has designed and conducted seminars and workshops for hospitals, businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions. Topics include stress management, motivation, clinical aspects of grieving, team building, visioning, and professional ethics. He is a nationally recognized expert on issues of loss, and has been recognized by the courts in several states in this capacity.

He is an author of books on grief and loss, as well as articles and chapters in edited works. Dr. Stephenson received his B.A. from Boston University, his M.A. from the University of Denver, and his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Dr. Stephenson is graduate of Coach University, the world’s largest coach training organization. He is recognized as a Professional Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation, and subscribes to its Standards, Practices and Ethics Pledge. Dr. Stephenson is the Editor of Intentional Change, an anthology of writings by leading coaches, published in the winter of 1999.

Prior to becoming a Certified Professional Coach, Dr. Stephenson was a Full Professor at San Diego State University where he taught for seventeen years. Dr. Stephenson also practiced as a licensed therapist in San Diego, California and Portland, Maine. He serves on the Faculty of CoachU and the University of Texas, Dallas. Dr. Stephenson and his wife reside in Chestertown, Maryland.
